Seasonal Project - Summer '09
September 6, 2009The summer project this year is a cute summer top made from a man's recycled button up shirt. You can get the instruction sheet at any of the meetings. The list of materials is below in case you wanted to work on it during the meeting.
Shopping List:
- Men's dress shirt (choose one that fits you loosely)
- Elastic, 1/4-inch-wide
- Thread
- Contrasting buttons (same size as those on the shirt)
- Twill tape or ribbon, 1/2-inch-wide, 1 1/2 yards
- Your sewing supplies*
The instructions also call for fabric paint and paintbrush, fabric glue, and fabric-friendly glitter to "draw" a flower on the breast of the shirt. Alternatives to this could be iron-on patches (about the size of your palm or smaller), hand embroidery, applique, or nothing at all. The top would be cute without it.
Don't have an oversized man's button-up shirt? Goodwill is a great place to pick one up. They have a HUGE selection of men's shirts.
